Cancellara Is A Doubtful Starter For 2013 Tour

Fabian Cancellara is one of the famous Tour de France competitors who have not won the championship yet, but he has won five prologues and eight stages. He holds the record number of 28 appearances in yellow jerseys in the tour. Recently, a claim was made by a Swiss newspaper company Blick saying that Fabian will not take part in the 2013 Tour de France.

The news may not be true, but if it’s true then Leopard team sponsored by RadioShack will lose one of its important cyclists for the race.

Fabian has said that the chance of winning in the upcoming tour is limited due to the Parcours. Blick was explaining about the Fabian’s comments by saying that the starting of tour in Corsica will feature no time trails and no prologue. There’s a change in the upcoming edition of Tour de France, by featuring a friendly stage for sprinters. This is the first change introduced in the long history of 40 years. The stage four of the race will have the time trial for the team; it will be a team effort and not an individual effort.

Some of the great features of the race are not encouraging Cancellara to take part in the 2013 edition. The interesting features of the race that failed to attract him are 33 kilometer ride to Mont St. Michel and the ride in Chorges TT of stage 17.

Blick even adds that Cancellara’s doubt in taking part will be a great loss for the team. His presence in the team will help the Luxembourg rider Schleck. Blick, states that Fabian does not believe that Schleck can win this 2013 Tour de France.

Fabian expects to start this season with Tour Oman and Qatar, and then look into the world championship during the latter half of this year.
